Privacy
What each Finipher mode stores, who can open a file, and how to delete it.
Privacy depends on the location you chose. One sentence does not cover every mode.
The website always stores
Account, email, Stripe billing, license, and installer download access. Not your Local Mode PDFs.
Local Mode
Documents, the Finipher engine, search index, and Ask stay on that computer. See Where your files live.
Finipher Private Cloud
Files stay on the device until Process Documents. After that they are stored under your account, encrypted in transit and at rest. Staff do not browse customer documents. Delete them from Settings when you want them gone.
Organization
Your workplace’s Finipher service can open those files. Finipher does not receive them.
Phone
Alongside my computer: the phone shows findings. A file you send is sealed for that computer. Finipher cannot read it.
This phone on its own: files go to the location you chose after Process documents.
Bank link
Optional on Personal Pro. Tokens stay on the local engine or on Private Cloud — not in the public website database. Revoke in Accounts.
Crash reports and usage counts
Both are off unless you turn them on. Finipher asks once and you can change it in Settings → Diagnostics.
- Crash reports say what broke and where in Finipher's code, plus the app version and OS. Names, amounts, long numbers, emails and file names are removed first. They are stored by Sentry.
- Usage counts say which screens you open and whether processing finished, with counts rounded into ranges. They are stored by PostHog.
- Both go through finipher.com, which removes your IP address before passing them on.
- Neither ever includes your documents, amounts, merchants, account numbers, file names, your questions, or your email.
On the Mac, Save diagnostics file writes a file you can read and choose to email to us. Nothing is sent automatically.
You'll know it worked when
You can name the location badge on your workbench and what Delete data will remove there.
